This Privacy Policy describes how Linkpad ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our local-first link management application ("App"). Linkpad is designed to keep your saved links, notes, and collections on your device.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Links and Content You Save

Linkpad stores the following information locally on your device:

• Saved links: URLs you save via the share sheet or manual entry, along with fetched metadata (title, description, preview image, favicon, author, site name).
• Notes and snippets: Personal notes you attach to links and article snippets extracted for quick preview.
• Collections and tags: Folders, categories, and tags you create to organize your links.
• Search history: Recent search queries you perform within the app.
• Gamification data: Local stats such as links saved, reading streaks, and achievement progress.
• App settings: Theme, language, notification preferences, and other configuration options.

1.2 Data You Explicitly Choose to Import

• Bookmark files: HTML bookmark exports, JSON files (e.g., from Raindrop), or CSV files you select through the system file picker. These are parsed locally to extract URLs and titles.
• Shared links: Links shared to Linkpad from other apps via the system share sheet.

1.3 Limited Online Requests

• Metadata fetching: When you save a link, Linkpad requests the target website's page to extract Open Graph, oEmbed, or platform-specific metadata (title, description, images). These requests go directly to the website's server, not to a developer backend.
• Reader mode: When you open an article in the built-in reader, Linkpad fetches the page HTML from the original URL and parses it locally for a clean reading experience.
• Offline queue: If you save links while offline, they are queued locally and metadata is fetched automatically when connectivity is restored.
• Advertising: Google AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and ad interaction data under Google's own privacy terms.

4. Data Storage and Security

• Local storage: Linkpad stores all link data, notes, collections, tags, search history, and settings in a local Hive database on your device.
• No developer-held link database: We do not run a central server that stores your saved links, notes, or browsing history.
• Rate limiting: The app implements per-host rate limiting to avoid excessive requests to external websites.
• Caching: Fetched metadata is cached in memory and on disk to reduce repeated network requests.
• No account required: Linkpad works without creating an account or providing personal information.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your saved links, notes, or personal data. Data leaves your device only in the following cases:

• Metadata requests: When you save a link, the app requests the target website's page to extract metadata. Only the URL is sent to the website's server.
• Reader mode: When you open an article in the reader, the app fetches the page from the original URL.
• Advertising: If your build displays ads, Google AdMob collects data under its own privacy terms.
• In-app purchases: Purchase transactions are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• No account needed: Use Linkpad without creating an account or providing personal information.
• Delete local data: Clear individual links, collections, or all app data from within the app, or uninstall to remove everything.
• Control exports: Export your collection to HTML, JSON, or CSV. Exported files are saved to locations you choose.
• Offline use: Save links while offline; metadata is fetched automatically when you reconnect.
• Ad personalization: You can manage Google's ad personalization options in your device settings.
• Premium upgrade: Upgrade to premium via in-app purchase to remove ads and unlock additional features.

8. Children's Privacy

Linkpad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
